Department of Electricity
The department of electricity which was under control of DMMC four decades ago was acquired by Sri Lanka electricity board with the electricity dissemination system of the department, the electrical engineer, electrical superintendents and staff.
After 1979, the main duties of electricity department in DMMC were maintaining the street light system and maintain and repair the electricity supply of buildings. This service is rendered under the direct supervision of electrical superintendent and other staff comprising 45 members.
Services provided by the department
Maintain street lights as a utility service and engage in all electrical functions in DMMC buildings
Duties
Maintenance of street light is done under three electrical mechanics and other labors with due responsibility. To ease the task it has divided in to three zones as kalubowila, Mt. Lavinia, and Ratmalana
Apart from the day to day activities, this department engages in providing electricity services for religious festivals conducted with the patronage of government.
Street light operations are daily done by a staff including 18 members
Obtain the complaints which receive from the employees and public on inactive street lights and work on that
All the electrical maintenance activities and payment of monthly bills
