Mr. Danasiri Amaratunga has entered politics in 1997 as a Municipal Councilor for Dehiwala – Mt Lavinia Municipal Council. In 2002 he was elected as the Mayor of Dehiwala – Mt Lavinia. People gave him the privilege of being the youngest Mayor in Sri Lanka. In 2011 he got the highest preferential votes in history
